I’m sure we have all seen multiple reality TV shows where the women featured in the show get into these epic “knock down, drag out” brawls or, at the very least, has thrown or gotten a drink thrown in her face. Usually, these physical altercations are a result of a really petty argument that escalated.
Is it worth it?
Sure in these shows, the women get dragged off the scene by the camera people and security guards, but what about in real life? If you cause a scene and get into a physical altercation with another young woman, the only place you are getting dragged to…. Is jail.
We often forget about the real world consequences to our real world actions. Hollywood has glammed things up and planted seeds in our hearts that make us think it’s ok to put our hands on another female.
“She disrespected you?” Slap her.
“She tried you?” Punch her.
“She slept with your man?” Girl, you better show up at her house and let her have it!
But we don’t take into account the aftermath! Retaliation, jail time and/or an overall negative feeling in your spirit.
So I ask you again.
Is it worth it?
Why is it so hard to just walk away?
Scripture tells us:
“If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.”- Luke 6:29 (NIV)
So. If this is so easy for Jesus to do, what is stopping us from doing it ourselves?
Well girls, let me tell you just what Dr. Johora has prescribed.
What you all need is a dose of the #hairflip.
No, I’m not talking about just flipping your hair in a feminine way. I’m talking about a #hairflip.
You see, #hairflip can be literal. But it’s true significance for me is figurative. It is the only way I have I been able to come up with to release the negativity that people often try to bring into my life.
Simply put, it’s a positive way for me (and others) to combat the negative. Throughout my life, people have tried to bring me down for whatever reason. And I’m done with it. It’s also an easy way for me to share with my students (and others) how to just #hairflip that negative energy and keep it moving.
As I tell my students:
A #HAIRFLIP A DAY KEEPS THE HATERS AWAY.
Rules of the HAIRFLIP
– When you encounter a petty argument, HAIRFLIP and walk away. IT’S THAT SIMPLE!
– ANYONE can #hairflip. Long hair, short hair, no hair, it doesn’t matter. If you have a head, and a heart that really wants to turn the other cheek, you can #hairflip.
– The #hairlflip is different for everyone. Meaning: I can’t TELL you how to #haiflip. That’s the beauty of it! It is specially catered to you!
So, she calls you names? #hairflip
She talks mess about you? #hairflip
They tell you you can’t do something? #hairflip
Next time you find yourself in a conflict, remember the #hairflip…. it’s just what the Doctor prescribed!
