Living the Legacy

I was recently asked my favorite song from the Beyonce’ 4 album, and there was no hesitation in stating that “I Was Here” is definitely the one. Don’t get me wrong, her entire album was amazing but it is something about this song that still touches my heart every time I hear it.
In the song she says “When I leave this world, I’ll leave no regrets. Leave something to remember, so they won’t forget…I was here.” If you haven’t heard it, click on the YouTube link below and listen.
We all know that Beyoncé has definitely left a legacy behind. Through this song I am motivated to be the best that I can be, in hopes that I am not only accepted in God’s eyes but my own as well, knowing that I have served my purpose.
As a college student there are constant temptations thrown at me and honestly the only reason why I don’t feed into them is because I know that if I mess up, not only will I be affected but my family will be as well. Having two little sisters and a bunch of cousins who look up to me as being the first in our family to go to college, the legacy that I wish to leave behind is that education is the key to success. As well as the idea that anything we put out our mind to can be accomplished, even if we think for a second that it cannot.
In Proverbs 10:7 it says, “The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.” So I ask you these questions…
What is the legacy that you wish to leave behind?
Are the things that you are doing right now reflected in the legacy…are you actually living that legacy, or are you just dreaming about it?
