This past weekend, the members of the Black Female Development Circle, Inc. gathered together in Miami, FL to kickoff Women’s History Month and celebrate our organization and members at our 4th National Conference! We started the weekend on Friday night by crowning the 2nd National Miss Woman of Excellence, Ms. Brynn Freeland and it was all uphill from there! From the workshops to the luncheon we all learned so much and were inspired to be our best selves.
Since it was a little chilly outside, we decided to bring the heat to Miami with the relationship panel! The questions and responses got deep, and we came away with a better understanding of personal romantic relationships, what it really means to submit, and what it takes to wait for our Boaz and be a man’s Sheba ;-).
Saturday evening, the University of Miami chapter hosted Shades of Womanhood and we were reminded what it takes to be women of excellence in our everyday lives.
We closed on Sunday with Angela Donald who consistently gives us so much wisdom. Led by the spirit, she gave us the tools we needed to be successful on our respective journeys and walked us through the shedding of past negativity and the welcoming in of all God has for us. We then participated in a group therapy exercise that was truly cathartic and helped us bond more as members, women and friends.
We ended the conference with the presentation of awards! Rachael Mack was named Collegiate Member of the Year, and for the 2nd time the Florida State University Chapter was named National Chapter of the Year!
By the end of the conference we were all exhausted, but so full of love for each other and our organization that we had a renewed energy and passion to go out and share all we had learned with our sisters and friends. BFDC may be everywhere you want to be, but the only place I wanted to be this past weekend was with BFDC :-).
