BFDC Paying it Forward
Although the Black Female Development Circle, Inc. is not a “community service” organization in the broad sense of the word, the women on the National Board recognize that there is much we can do “To educate, explore, enhance, and celebrate womanhood”. As a result, under the leadership of Jazmin Jones – National Director of Special Projects, we will endeavor to bring other organizations of women into our circle and show them the same love and support we teach our members to show each other.
Current Organization
For the Month of April, BFDC will be taking the role of advocates for our next Pay It Forward Project. This month, the UM AND FIU chapters we will be partnering up with Safespace Foundation, Inc. in Miami, FL. Safespace is “a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that has been dedicated to providing safety and support to victims of domestic violence and their children. In addition to our community education and local and national outreach efforts, we also provide funding and support for services and programs in collaboration with the Advocates for Victims Program in Miami Dade County.” While the two Miami chapters partner with Safespace, the other chapters will do their part, passing out information from their local domestic violence shelters.

Previous Organizations
W.O.M.E.N. (Women On Maintaining Education and Nutrition)
To celebrate Women’s History Month, during the month of March BFDC partnered with W.O.M.E.N. (Women On Maintaining Education and Nutrition) a non-profit organization in Nashville, TN whose purpose is “to provide HIV counseling/testing/referral, support, education, and nutrition services for people infected/affected by HIV/AIDS as well as those at risk for the infection. For this “Pay It Forward” project, BFDC will be collecting NEW AND UNWORN underwear to assist W.O.M.E.N. with their campaign titled OPP or Operation Panty Power! Sounds exciting right!
About Operation Panty Power:
OPP is a campaign created by W.O.M.E.N. to empower women. The messages are “there is power in your panties” and “just because I put them on doesn’t mean you can take them off.” Each panty that is collected will have a label sewn onto them with the OPP logo and W.O.M.E.N.’s contact information. When we launch and give these women these panties they will receive a message of empowerment. This is symbolic that women who have been raped, abused, etc have the power to take back what was taken from them and enables them to be empowered.

FEARLESS GIRLS CLUB!
This Valentine’s Day, we will be partnering with our National Philanthropy “Yes, I Am All That! Promoting Positive Self-Esteem” to deliver a message of self-love and self-acceptance to the beautiful and FEARLESS young women of the FEARLESS Girls Club – a youth empowerment program for high school girls to aid them in overcoming their fears! Our National Director, Sandra Miles has been invited to share her FEARLESS journey and teach vital lessons of self-esteem to these young women. To ensure that the message lasts longer than a day and to make sure each FEARLESS girl knows she is loved, the members of the Black Female Development Circle, Inc. will be planting seeds of inspiration and encouragement which will one day blossom into FEARLESS FLOWERS! Chapter Directors and At-Large Members should contact Jazmin Jones at specialproj@bfdcinc.org for details on how to submit your encouraging word!
