Ladies and Gentlemen, Purple Power Seminar 2011 is officially over! Although there were obstacles along the way, the devil too busy, but as hard as he tried he couldn’t ruin my time to fellowship with my sisters!
Special thanks to our wonderful Keynote Speaker, Laymon Hicks, who reminded us to continue to be our beautiful selves.
Beyond our keynote, we also had great workshops! Particularly, Shelia Morris gave us the real deal during her workshop “Red Light, Green Light: Safe Sex is Great Sex!” She had props and all!! Dr. Melvena Wilson informed us about our physical health and gave us tips on how to establish and maintain healthier habits. Dr. Jill Ricke, did an excellent job in teaching us skills revolving around our mental health in the workplace. Lastly, Dr. Tracy A. Thomas brought it home “phenomenally” with “You are beautiful! Total Well Being.”
This year’s seminar would not have been as special (for me especially) without the high school girls who so eagerly wanted to know more about BFDC, Inc. as well as the colleges in our college fair. Thank you to the Tallahassee Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for bringing their Delta GEMS. Which leads me to thank our amazing chapters, UCF, UM, and FSU for participating in this year’s College Fair. The high school students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it is all because of you!
We also had awesome food from Heavenly Catering…that peach cobbler was life changing (Thanks Sandra!)
…Wait there is more! Our collegiate chapters also had the opportunity to receive more tools to continue to improve their chapters with our BFDC Member Workshops on History and Chapter Management. Thank you all again for coming!
Last but certainly not least, to the rest of National Board, WE DID IT!! The devil was trying so hard but he could not stop the good works of God! Thank you all for being so supportive of me especially during this event. I see great things in our future!
Now, I am pleased to announce the location for our 2013 National Conference (drum roll please)… the best city in the world…my hometown… MIAMI, FLORIDA!
Start planning accordingly because this conference will be the best yet!
Thank you all again for attending, I pray you had as much fun as I did. See you all next year!
