When was the last time you’ve been to the dentist? To the doctor for your “annual” or a checkup? Or to a nutritionist? When was the last time you gave yourself a breast self-exam?
It is easy to neglect our physical well-being because we feel that we are young and invincible. However, the best way to take care of the older you is to start now. Some things may be a pain and uncomfortable but think of the actual pain that you will be saving yourself from later on. Don’t wait until something happens for you to make that trip to the doctor or schedule that dentist appointment, especially if your family has a history of a particular ailment or disease. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and others are things that we can monitor now and if caught early enough, something can be done about it.
Many of my appointments are in July and August. I prefer to schedule my appointments close together so I can get them all out of the way. I do not particularly like going to the doctor due to previous bad experiences. However, I can’t let that get in the way of me taking better care of myself.
What are some ways that you keep track of your monthly or annual appointments? Do you schedule the major appointments in the same month to get them over with? What preventative measures are you taking? I’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions.
